Graft: An Art Activity in Bristol with a Difference

Today’s post on Bristol Mum features an art activity with a difference! Not only that, but both children and grown-ups can enjoy this activity, too.

Graft is run by Bristol husband and wife team and new parents, Rob and Sophie Wheeler.  Rob and Sophie offer Graft graffiti workshops for birthday parties, schools, special schools, SEN departments, youth groups, businesses and practically any other organisation. Graft also design mural paintings for schools, shops, gardens, people’s own homes, etc.

I was interested to know how Graft came about. Sophie explains:

Rob had been running workshops and clubs through his work in school for a few years, as well as painting his own pieces. The workshops always proved popular, so we decided to launch our own business offering workshops and mural painting to a wider audience. We’ve been going for a year now and business is really picking up. We’ve had such a wide range of bookings and enquiries, from children’s parties to stag dos, beer festivals to classroom murals!”

Both Rob and Sophie are qualified teachers who have an arts background:

We’ve both studied art and Rob is a professional artist; he specialises in graffiti art and printmaking. He grew up in Bristol, taking inspiration from the growing graffiti scene here. We’re both qualified teachers with lots of experience working with adults and children of all ages”.

There are no age restrictions to enjoy a Graft workshop. Sophie explains:

Our youngest participants so far have been around 5 or 6, and there’s no upper age limit! We recently ran a workshop for a 40th birthday, and the whole family took part!”

Graft offer one-to-one or small workshops from £40 (plus materials).
