If you are looking for a new, fun and lively activity with your babies, toddlers or preschoolers, look no further than ‘Music with Mummy in Long Ashton and Portishead‘!
‘Jolly Babies’ is the beginning of the musical journey from birth until approximately 15 months (or toddling without wobbling). Babies wave and clap, sing and dance.
Simple percussion is introduced and bouncing and bubbles become firm favourites. It’s a wonderful opportunity to give babies your undivided attention.
The next stage, ‘Music with Mummy’ is aimed at toddlers and preschoolers. Each 6-week term little ones are introduced to a different learning concept through carefully prepared and well thought-out themes in songs, games and activities.
It’s a great way to encourage early speech while the use of rhythm is a key tool in the development of listening and learning, even from the youngest age.
Music with Mummy and Jolly Babies draw on an eclectic and unique mix of traditional tunes specifically aimed at each age group, from old favourites to original songs.
The weekly classes are structured and classes are kept quite small so children become familiar and comfortable with the songs and routine.
Clarissa Griffiths, Group Leader for Portishead and Long Ashton (in photo below) says: “It’s lovely to see children grow in confidence as they come each week and become more involved in the classes.
“Despite the name, we very much welcome mums, dads, grandparents, nannies and child-minders too. It’s a great way to bond with little ones in the early months and years and enjoy something together.
“You can come along with friends or on your own; either way you’ll soon get to know others. Many start as Jolly Babies and move on to Music with Mummy and we’ve seen some really strong friendships, both grown ups and little ones, formed at the group over the years.”
Please note taster sessions are always available, fees for a six-week term are politely requested upfront.
If there is availability in sessions, you don’t have to wait until the start of the next term to begin the Music with Mummy musical journey.
