Yes, you’ve read that right – Saturday 6th October is UK Fungus Day!
To celebrate this special day Feed Bristol is hosting a free, fun and educational event for all ages to find out more about the fascinating world of fungi.
There will be children’s activities including storytelling from the wealth of fungi folklore, a fungi film space, forays to find mushrooms in the wild and cultivation workshops to help you to grow your own mushrooms at home.
There will also be laboratory tours showing you how edible and medicinal fungi are grown on site, live microscope projections, a chance to try and buy unusual cultivated fungi, and much more!
Feed Bristol is a community food-growing project run by Avon Wildlife Trust which enables people across Bristol to learn how to grow food using wildlife-friendly methods.
UK Fungus Day at Feed Bristol is just one of the free community events that the trust regularly offers throughout the year.
The event will be from 12–5pm and takes place at Feed Bristol, 158 Frenchay Park Road, BS16 1EL.
There is no entry fee but Feed Bristol will be grateful for any donations. There will be simple food and drink for sale.
All are welcome along to take part. Do bring sensible outdoor clothing – it’s likely to be a bit wet and muddy!
