A huge musical dawn chorus is planned in Bristol this August, delivered directly to people’s homes from a flotilla of hot air balloons in the sky.
The event is being brought to you by The Sky Orchestra, and includes seven hot air balloons with speakers attached, taking off at dawn and performing over sleeping people in Bristol.
The Sky Orchestra is an experimental artwork created by Luke Jerram in collaboration with BAFTA award-winning composer Dan Jones, and brings together performance and music to create visual audio installations within the air and within the mind.
A new composition has been commissioned for this event by Bristol Old Vic for what will be a spectacular sight – and sound – in the sky above Bristol.
Luke explains what inspired him to create this event:
“As the city begins to unlock, I wanted a way to deliver an uplifting experience to people in their homes. Something spectacular, yet somehow intimate; to create a sense of renewal, hope and rebirth, to raise the public’s spirits and mark a moment in time”.
The date of this event is not yet known as is dependent on good weather conditions. Listen out for sweet music in the sky above Bristol coming to you one morning very soon!
