Details of activities for babies and toddlers in BS4, covering the areas of Totterdown, Broomhill, Brislington, Knowle, Knowle West and St Anne’s.

MONDAY

baby ballet Bristol: I-Play Soft Play
babyballet offers four stages of ballet dance classes, for young children aged 6 months to 6 years, plus a tap dancing class for children over 3 years. babyballet teachers all undergo babyballet training, and with professional dance and teaching experience, they strive to create a fun, friendly and inclusive experience for everyone – no matter what your child’s age or ability. baby Ballet classes are a great way for parents and carers to meet up and make new friends too!

The programme fits within the UK Government’s Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, and classes provide the opportunity for babies and young children to learn and develop key life skills in a healthy and safe environment.

All classes need to be booked and paid for in advance. A 3-week introductory trial for £15 is offered, then classes after that are £5 each paid in half termly instalments.

Totterdown Tots: Totterdown Baptist Church
For children aged 0 to 5 years (siblings under 5 years are also welcome) providing an opportunity for children to play and take part in activities and for parents and carers to socialise.

Sessions are run by a member of staff and include a dedicated baby area, craft activities, interactive song time, healthy snacks for the children and tea/coffee for the grown ups.

Tots Time: St Christopher’s Hall
Popular group for children aged 0 – 3 years which is held on Mondays and Fridays in term-time. Lots of craft activity tables, dressing-up and books. Refreshments served mid-morning, followed by singing and then ride-on toys, trucks and parachute fun.

Play and Learn at Hillcrest Primary School, School Road, Totterdown
Run by the Redcliffe Children’s Centre, all families are welcome. It is aimed at 0-4’s, has different activities every week and ends with singing. Drop-in.

Story Stars Sensory Storytelling Classes: St Christopher’s Church Hall, Brislington

Brand new sensory storytelling classes for babies up to 18 months. Classes combine much-loved books with themed sensory and messy play activities. Every week you and your baby will zoom off on to an exciting story-themed adventure!

The 45-minute sessions run in 2 parts: an interactive storytelling session followed by plenty of themed sensory and messy play to really immerse little ones into an amazing story land.​

Debutots Drama, Storytelling & Play: Totterdown Baptist Church 

Debutots interactive drama, storytelling and play sessions introduce 0-4 year olds to a magical world of wonderful characters and beautiful music and also improves communication, language and listening skills, and confidence.

Classes are led by Geri Mckenna who has been formally trained in drama. There are two Debutots sessions at Totterdown Baptist Church on Tuesdays according to age. Term-time only.

A playgroup for babies and children up to the age of 4. This group has been running for many years and the leaders are very experienced. There is plenty of space and activities include wheeled toys, craft activities, snack time (with fruit, toast etc), tea and coffee for adults.

A session for babies aged 0 – around 18 months. A mix of old favourites and more recent nursery rhymes are enjoyed.

Little Beacons: The Salvation Army, Knowle West
A new Christian Parent and Toddler group held at The Salvation Army. The last Friday of the month will be a café Tots format with craft based activities themed around a bible story. Drinks and snacks provided for parents and toddlers.
