As part of a new Saturday morning Music School, Blackbird Early Years Music is launching a new choir and samba drumming group for children, aged 4-8.
The choir will be working on traditional, folk and pop songs, and be led by Douglas Watts (conductor, Bristol Show Choir) and Helen Reid (pianist, founder of Blackbird EYM). The Samba Drumming and Musicianship sessions will be led by top percussionist Catherine Ring, and Helen.
Here, children will learn the fundamentals of music, through the 5 level Blackbird music curriculum, as well as taking part in Samba drumming. Both sessions will maintain a ratio of 1:8. Performances are planned after Easter!
The Music School launches on Saturday 24th February at the Bonus Room, Upton Road, BS3 1QZ. Preschool music from 9.35-10.05am; Musicianship/Samba Drumming from 10.15-11am; and Choir from 11.15-12 noon.
Children can stay for both sessions, and receive a snack and drink in the break, or attend only Musicianship (£8), or Choir (£6).
There are now limited spaces available in both sessions, and these can be booked at https://bookwhen.com/blackbirdeym.
Blackbird Early Years Music was founded in 2014 by former BBC Young Musician of the Year finalist, Helen Reid.
Professional performers also run Blackbird music foundation classes across Bristol, for 3-7 year olds, in small groups, teaching music fundamentals.
