Lunar New Year: Bristol Museum & Art Gallery

Join Bristol Museum & Art Gallery for a joyful celebration to usher in Lunar New Year, also known as Chinese New Year or Spring Festival!
This exciting weekend is filled with free and fun activities for children and adults, including hands-on crafts, selfie-taking with some roving pandas.
And, as 2025 is the year of the snake, there will be a fun-filled Snake Trail Adventure around the museum and a a Ssssuper Ssssnake Stall where kids can learn some interesting facts!
There will also be colourful performances such as lion dances, martial arts, dance and music, and a chance to learn about Chinese and East Asian culture.

Saturday 8 February:
- 10.15am – Welcome
- 10.20am – Authentic Chinese Tea Performance, Keemun Black Tea team, direct from Huangshan City, Anhui Province, China
- 10.30am – Traditional dance, Clevedon School
- 10.45am – Kung Fu demonstration, Bristol Shaolin Wushu Academy
- 11.15am – Traditional Lion dance – HM Lord Lieutenant awakens the new lion! University of Bristol Lion Dance Troupe
- 12pm – Classical music on the Erhu and Guzheng, Ronni Ho (Erhu) and Iona Wang (Guzheng)
- 12.15pm – Dance with our pandas!
- 12.30pm – Interval
- 1.30pm – Children’s performance, Avon Chinese School
- 2pm – Kung Fu demonstration, Bristol Shaolin Wushu Academy
