mmm BOPP Music & Movement Classes, Knowle: A Bristol Mum Review

Today, Bristol Mum features a review by a reader who attends mmm BOPP Music and Movement for Children classes with her little girl at Redcatch Community Centre, Redcatch Road, Knowle.

mmm BOPP offer classes for three age groups: 0 – 18 months (Tadpoles), 15 months – 3 years (Frogs) and 3 – 5 years (Funky Frogs). Classes are also held in Bishopston, as well as Knowle.

mmm

My little girl has been going to mmmBOPP since she was about 3 months old and really enjoys it. Becky, the lady who runs it is very friendly and the group itself is friendly.

The routine varies each week. We start with singing “hello” to everyone in the group. Then Becky has a big bouncy ball which lights up. She sings a song and passes it to the baby and they will eventually pass it back. My little girl has progressed and loves this bit, she gets excited every week.

Each week we sing different songs (not the usual nursery rhymes) about various things. One is about a fast rocket and a slow snail – Becky has a toy rocket and a little snail.

We also sing songs about baby animals growing up, again Becky has little toys, flowers (coloured scarfs are used), teddies (teddies are used) amongst others. The sessions involve singing about various things, not the usual nursery rhymes. There is also movement for the babies.

We also have percussion instruments which the babies (and adults) can bang to music. Then we usually have a big rainbow coloured parachute to some music, followed by bubbles. At the end we sing “goodbye” to everyone – which has actions.

My little one gets a lot of simulation and has progressed with hand, eye coordination since she started at 3 months of age.
