Bristol Walk Fest 2016: Walking fun for children & families

Clifton Suspension Bridge TrustIt’s back! Bristol Walk Fest is the UK’s largest urban celebration of walking, and is coming to a neighbourhood near you!

From 1st – 31st May 2016, Walk Fest’s packed programme will offer parents and children a great opportunity to explore Bristol, meet new people, learn something new and enjoy some fresh air and exercise.

The programme features over 170 walks and events from over 70 organisations and covers a wide range of themes, activities and interests.

Northern Slopes (Knowle) Tree Trail – 9th May
‘Wild Swimming Walks’ book launch at Stanfords – 12th May
After Dark Arnos Vale walk – 13th May
Learning and singing in Victoria Park – 15th May
The launch of Bristol Walking Alliance – 17th May
A medical herb walk in Eastville Park – 19th May
A creative adventure walk near Eastwood Farm – 28th May

All walks have easy-to-follow grading and description, with most being offered free of charge. There really will be something for everyone.

Bristol is amazing! It has masses of green spaces, waterways and cultural and community venues to explore. And what better way to discover them, than on foot, connecting with other walkers and learning new things as you go?


Bristol Walk Fest 2016 launches on Thursday 28th April with a ‘Compass Walk’. Starting mid-morning from four corners of Bristol, walkers will converge on the City Centre for a celebration and refreshments just after 5pm. Walkers can join for one or two shorter sections or an entire ‘compass’ route!
