There are lots of great events and activities for kids in Bristol this weekend! There’s a Castle Open Day at Blaise Castle where you can have a rare chance to explore inside the 1766-built castle. Bristol Harbour Festival 2016 is also on this weekend and there’s lots of fun for all of the family.
There’s also an amazing Shout Out Launch Party in Easton with face painting, circus skills, arts and crafts, party games and more, plus it’s free entry for kids!
There are also steam train rides and boat rides, an award-winning show at Tobacco Factory Theatres, plus a Family Fun Day at Hicks Gate Fire Station where your kids can see the fire engines, meet the fire-dog and watch live demos!

SATURDAY 16th JULY
Shout Out! Launch Party for Children & Families: Baggator Community Hall, Easton
All children and families are welcome to come along and join in the fun at this official launch party for the wonderful Shout Out!.
There will be lots to do for all the family including face painting, circus skills, performances, party games, an art corner for ALL ages and much more!
There will even be a raffle with the chance to win FREE and DISCOUNTED passes for PlaySpace and KudaCan, as well as a Shout Out! T-shirt and a FREE TERM at your local Shout Out! class!
The launch party will also be a great chance to find out more about Shout Out! and the drama activities for children on offer.

Into the West Travelling Light: Tobacco Factory Theatres
Bristol favourites and our long-time friends, Travelling Light, join us this summer with Into the West Travelling Light, their multi award-winning tale of two Traveller children on a wild ride across Ireland.
Imagine a glorious white horse comes out of a sea mist and into your troubled life. Imagine trying to keep her on the 14th floor of a Dublin tower block. Now imagine the police are after you, and your only escape is to ride into the west…
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of this much-loved play, Travelling Light are bringing to a new generation of audiences their internationally-acclaimed story of grit and magic, love and loss, hope and discovery.

A free trail to find of 30 squirrels and other furry woodland animals in windows around Chipping Sodbury. Children of all ages can take part in the trail. Simply pick up a trail map from one of the local libraries, the Chipping Sodbury Tourist Information Centre, under the clock tower or from any of the participating businesses.
Children handing in completed maps will receive a certificate and be entered into a draw to win one of the 30 furry animals!

The Story of Children’s Television From 1946 to Today: M Shed
An exhibition tracing the fascinating history of children’s television, bringing together 70 years of iconic objects, memorabilia, merchandise, clips and images. From puppetry to CGI and live shows to dramas and fantasy, it looks at how the magical programmes of our childhood have created memories and nostalgia in adults and children alike.
Enjoy a wander down memory lane in a celebration of children’s television past and present.

Family Fun Day at Hicks Gate Fire Station
Avon Fire and Rescue Service is inviting children and families to a family fun day at the new Hicks Gate Fire Station. Children and families will be able to visit the new fire station, see some of the fire engines and equipment and experience live rescue demonstrations!
There will also be fun activities for children to enjoy such as making their own fire service badges and playing the Hose and Ladders game. Kids can also meet Fido the Fire Dog and test their skills at the hose reel game.
There will be BBQ food available to buy as well as an ice cream van on hand for some cool refreshments.

Castle Open Day at Blaise Castle, Henbury
If you and your little ones enjoy exploring castles then you will enjoy this! Once a month throughout the Summer the doors of Blaise Castle – built in 1766 – are opened to the public and this Sunday is one of them! As well as being fun to explore inside the castle also offers some great views across Bristol.
Blaise Castle Estate also offers acres of green space and woods, a free museum and a great kids play park.
