The Bristol Story Carousel: A Free Children’s Event At Central Library On Saturday 22nd October

On Saturday 22nd October from 2 – 5pm children and families are invited to Bristol Central Library for a fun-filled afternoon of storytelling and arts and crafts activities.

The Bristol Story Carousel is a free event which aims to celebrate Bristol’s cultural and linguistic diversity with local families who love books, stories and reading.

Local authors and illustrators Mark Lemon, Helen Sheppard, Lara Hawthorne, Yasmeen Ismail, Paula Bowles, Freya Hartas, Ruby Hinton, Robbie Cathro, Beth Calverley and many more will be at the Story Carousel for 3 hours of non-stop storytelling in English and other languages.

At the same time publisher Book Island will be running an arts and crafts workshop for children aged 5 – 9 which is inspired by ‘Mr Miniscule and the Whale’, a famous Polish children’s classic by Julian Tuwim and Bohdan Butenko.

At a third station Bristol-based illustrators will help all children create their own paper cup characters.

In the café area, Book Island will be selling their picture books from around the world alongside the books of the Bristol-based illustrators and authors.
