A new Steiner Parent and Child Group recently started at Steiner Academy Bristol in Fishponds and it has been a huge success with Bristol families.

Run by a qualified Steiner Kindergarten and class teacher, the group has been created with the aim of supporting and nurturing young children aged 0 – 3 and their families and recognises the importance of protecting the delightful wonder of early childhood.

Due to its great success, from September the group will run every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in term-time from 9.15 – 11.45am.

Taking children and parents on a gentle Journey through the seasons with simple crafts, food and celebration, the group offers a warm and protective environment for children to take their first steps on the bridge between home and the world of school (and all that lies beyond!).

At every session children engage in creative play together in small groups. Very simple toys that have been hand-crafted from natural materials are provided, feeding the senses and nurturing the imagination. There will are also beautiful books to share.

Baking, painting, simple crafts, gardening, singing, games and stories are enjoyed by the children in a happy, secure atmosphere.

At every session children and parents follow the same natural rhythm of the season. There are baking and seasonal crafts on offer which parents/carers and children can enjoy if they wish, or children can play and explore, or have fun with their friends.

After tidying up the room together there are always some healthy organic snacks on offer, such as rice cakes, fruit, and drinks, and an occasional birthday cake!

Then it is time for some outdoor play and then the morning will end with a short puppet story with songs, finger plays and poems.

The group is relaxed and informal and provides a warm, safe, child-centered space for the children and their parents to relax and play together, and for parents to share with each other the delights and difficulties of bringing up children.

Each session is £10 with concessions for more than one child. Booking on a termly basis is required. A new term starts in September.
