Last weekend my family and I had a lovely mini-break at Finlake Holiday Park, a holiday resort in Chudleigh, Newton Abbot in South Devon.

We stayed at 49 Lakeside, a 4-berth luxury holiday caravan which is privately owned but available for hire and which contains a spacious lounge, kitchen, dining area, two bedrooms, a shower room and a toilet.

Finlake Holiday Park is set on 130 acres of woodland, lake and green space and also includes an indoor swimming pool and an outdoor swimming pool with a slide, plus a café, bar and restaurant; all of which are just a short walk from No. 49 Lakeside.

We enjoyed making use of the indoor swimming pool, shop and café while we were there.

My children both LOVE going away and especially enjoy staying in static caravans so were super-excited when we arrived at Finlake!

Here is my daughter’s reaction when she discovered her woodland creature-themed bedroom!

No. 49 Lakeside is very clean and comfortable, providing a home-from-home environment, containing everything that a family should need and more, including a TV, DVD Player with some children’s DVDs,  games for the kids, cooking implements, herbs and spices, shower gel and luxury hand soap and more.

When we arrived beds were freshly made with clean sheets and there were fresh white towels on the beds too.

And, just a minute’s walk from the caravan lies Finlake Holiday Park’s beautiful woods and tranquil lake. The lake has ducks which you can feed and the woods are wonderful to explore.

The weather was wet on Saturday but we didn’t let the rain defeat us and defiantly ventured out for a walk around the lake and woods in the fresh clean air, enjoying the peace and stillness.

My kids were also excited to discover a ‘Secret Garden’ next to the lake which contains Finlake’s resident stalk!

Later that day we spend some time in the caravan, comfortable and happy, me curled up with a good book and the kids happily occupied playing the games and puzzles that the caravan contains, while the rain steadily drummed against the windows of the caravan.

It’s not often my family can all be together and enjoy some down-time.

When we woke up on Sunday morning the birds were singing and the weather was warm and sunny so we decided to go on a proper explore through the beautiful green woods.

With the only sound of the birds singing and the leaves rustling in the gentle breeze, we explored the woods, enjoying the feel of the sun’s warmth on our skin, admiring the ancient towering trees, discovering nature and, to my daughter’s delight, a pixie forest!

Yes, Finlake Woods contains ‘Pixie Hollow’, complete with fairy doors, a Listening Tree and several other exciting features to discover!

We had a lovely weekend away; No. 49 Lakeside is a lovely luxury caravan which provided us with all our comforts and more.

I would definitely recommend it for a weekend away or longer! No. 49 Lakeside is up to 40% cheaper than other Finlake lodges, too.

And, Finlake Holiday Park is a beautiful and peaceful retreat with lots to keep children and families happily entertained throughout their stay.
