If you are familiar with the book, Treasure Island, you will know that Bristol plays a strong part in the famous tale of pirate adventure.

Bristol is where Squire Trelawney found and fitted out the good ship Hispaniola, where Long John Silver ran a pub called The Spyglass, and where young Jim Hawkins stepped off the coach from Devon to set sail on the biggest adventure of his life – the search for Captain Flint’s buried treasure.

This Summer families can enjoy a Treasure Island Story Walk on Bristol Docks and hear the story of where it all began 250 years ago!

Taking place from Monday 21 August to Sunday 3 September at 2pm and 4pm, the Treasure Island Story Walks are ideal for families with children aged 8+.

Created by Show of Strength Theatre Company and in association with the Long John Silver Trust, the story walks will be led by a professional actor in period costume and will be full of pirates and buccaneers, hidden spy holes, dark secrets, dirty deeds and lashings of doubloons.

…only the crew troubled me until the most remarkable stroke of fortune brought me the very man that I required… an old sailor who keeps a public-house, knows all the seafaring men in Bristol, and had lost his health ashore. I engaged him on the spot to be ship’s cook. Long John Silver, he is called, and has lost a leg…’

And what happens next?

You’ll have to walk the Treasure Island Story Walk if you want to find out!
