A brand new improvised show created especially for children launches this Autumn in Bristol.
Dice Tales – The Improvised Story Show, will take children aged 5 to 12 on an adventure made not only for them but by them as well.
How will they do this? How will these stories unfold? Why, on the roll of a dice, of course!
As each dice falls, they decide the who, the where and the what on earth will happen next! Creating crazy characters, twisty plots and grand finales brand new every time!
But what will they be? A princess in a spaceship uncovering a hoard of treasure! Or a dinosaur learning magic to hold back an alien invasion!
Using funky oversized dice thrown into and around the audience, each roll will lead the performers into the next part of the story. No one will know where the story is going until the dice lands.
Performers from established family favourites, Monkey Trousers Theatre, have joined together with experienced improvisers from Closer Each Day company and Degrees of Error, the resident company of the Bristol Improv Theatre, to form this exciting new ensemble.
Dice Tales is performed by Peter Baker, Rachael Lane and Charlotte Whitten.
The 40 minute show uses comedy, drama and play to highlight the structural elements of storytelling. The audience will learn about creating characters, plotting and story structure as they roll their way through the fun.
Rachael explains, “As a teacher, I just love it when kids are having so much fun that they don’t even realise that they are learning something wonderful. I wanted to find a fun way of teaching story structure. And using the techniques of improvisation, I realised that we could play our way through the story.”
Performances are 10.30am and 11.30am on Sunday 5th November and Sunday 3rd December 2017 at the Kelvin Players Studio, 253b Gloucester Road, Bishopston, Bristol BS7 8NY.
Tickets are £6 each for aged 5 and above or £20 for a family ticket for 4 people.
Tickets are available online through the Dice Tales box office http://buytickets.at/dicetales from 5th October. For more information and ticket updates, go to the Facebook page www.facebook.com/dicetalesshow
