Due to popular demand, Bristol Academy of Drama (BAD) will be offering more classes for children and teens this September.

Led by experienced drama facilitators, the classes will give children and young people the chance to take an exciting and creative journey into the world of drama and performance.

Classes will take place on Saturday mornings and Saturday afternoons at 1532 Performing Arts Centre in Clifton and after school on Wednesdays at the Quaker Meeting House in Horfield.

One parent explains: “This drama group run by Claire and her team are just fab. You have to prise your child away at the end of each session due to the fun they are constantly having. The shows are brilliantly orchestrated and wonderful!”

SATURDAY CLASSES:

‘Little Rascals’ Drama Classes: Ages 4-6 years
Saturdays, 8.30-9.30am at 1532 Performing Arts Centre, BS8

Led by experienced drama facilitators, classes offer younger children the opportunity to develop the building blocks of drama and performance. Through speaking, listening and using imagination, children will build their understanding of how to dramatise a story. This process is designed to develop creativity, build confidence and help with communication skills and teamwork. But more than that is designed for the children to have fun and introduce them to the world of theatre performance.

Classes £7.50 per hour charged on a termly basis.

Drama Classes: Ages 7-11 years
Saturdays, 2.30pm-4.30 pm at 1532 Performing Arts Centre, BS8

The Academy’s team of experienced facilitators use drama games and, through improvisation and role play, teach students about the many different theatre styles from mask work to physical theatre and mime to shadow theatre. BAD’s focus is not on the musical theatre genre although there is plenty of movement and voice work in classes. We also undertake rehearsals for either our main show or showcase performance. Their public performances involve classic stories which are specially written for the Academy by their own Writer in Residence.

WEDNESDAY AFTER SCHOOL CLASSES:

Drama Classes: Ages 11-16 years
Wednesdays, 4.45-6.45pm at Quaker Meeting House, BS7

Bristol Academy of Drama (BAD) is to bring the power of drama to children, through the medium of theatre. Classes build confidence, friendships and creative learning skills. At BAD we focus on all genres of theatre from physical theatre to mask work, stage combat to shadow theatre. Young people will enjoy the fun of drama games as well as rehearsing for a full production in the wonderful 1532 performing Arts Centre.
