The 2019 Summer Reading Challenge Heads to Space!

This summer, libraries across England, Scotland and Wales will be taking children on a journey into space!

The 2019 Summer Reading Challenge is called ‘Space Chase’ and is inspired by the 50th anniversary of the moon landing.

It will take young readers on an out-of-this-world adventure with a super space family, The Rockets.

The free Challenge touches down in libraries across the UK this summer and features bespoke artwork from top children’s illustrator Adam Stower.

The Summer Reading Challenge is a free annual event aimed at 4-11 year olds organised by The Reading Agency.

Children are encouraged to read six books of their choice during the summer holidays with collectable incentives and rewards such as stickers, plus a certificate for every child who completes the challenge.

There are also a range of competitions open throughout the summer on the Summer Reading Challenge website.

The Summer Reading Challenge starts in England and Wales on Saturday 13th July 2019. It is free and easy for children to be signed up, simply head to your nearest local library and speak to a member of staff.
