On Saturday 28th September there will be an exciting free Family Heritage Day at Ashton Court Mansion.
The event is being held to celebrate the 60 years since it was bought by Bristol City Council to become a community space for the people of Bristol facilitating art, theatre, performance and community activities.
There will be many fun activities at the event including a rare chance to tour the upper floor where the Smyth family (previous owners of Ashton Court Mansion) once lived. These tours will take place every half hour from 12-4pm and are free though a donation of £3 is welcome, pre-booking essential.
There will be other free activities including the following:
- Theatrical vignettes depicting the fascinating history of Ashton Court Estate from Show of Strength Theatre Company
- Games on the South Lawn
- ‘The Future of Ashton Court Mansion’ – six schools from Bristol and North Somerset who participated in artist workshops in June share their visions for it’s future
- Heritage exhibition curated by local volunteers and local artist, Amy Hutchings
- Performance from Opera Sulis
