Fairfield High School Bristol is a secondary academy in Horfield, BS7. Here, FHS Principal, Mr Nick Lewis, gives an update and shares the school’s latest news and successes.
One of the things that has characterised lockdown at Fairfield has been our determination to stick to our school aims and values whilst making sure our school community is safe and well.
We are proud to dedicate this edition of our newsletter to ‘We Change Our World’ to recognise the many efforts of our students and staff in relation to Black Lives Matter and virtual FHS Pride Week. See our Photo Gallery for some exemplary and humbling pieces of homework in relation to these topics.
I would also like to highlight group achievements such as the staff carnival dance, a collaborative piece designed to evoke the spirit of carnival and solidarity or the various competitions run by our Heads of House, including the latest cake bake. On a more individual basis students have been achieving great things such as Year 7 student Tanwen and her success in the Puffin / National Book Token short story awards. I have also been lucky enough to be able to see individual student submissions of work for remote learning and have been so impressed with the skills and talents on display.
As you are aware, we have be switching from Show My Homework to Microsoft Teams and the guides to support this can be found here.
We are very much looking forward to welcoming back all students in September. We have created bespoke video resources to support our new Year 7 to join us – these may also help all students remember what they enjoy about our school.
I wish everyone well for the summer months and the forthcoming new academic year in September.
Mr Nick Lewis
Principal
