Tobacco Factory Theatres has announced an exciting digital show for children and families this December: Raymond Briggs’ Father Christmas.
Brought to you in partnership with Bristol’s Pins and Needles and the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre, the show will bring a magical, joyful and imaginative production to your home with oodles of merriment, glorious music and playful puppetry.
The festive season at Tobacco Factory Theatres is usually its busiest and most joyful time of year and this Christmas, Tobacco Factory Theatres was all set to collaborate with Bristol’s Pins and Needles (The Little Mermaid, the egg and Oi Frog!, West End) on a bold new co-production. Then the world changed, and since March Tobacco Factory Theatres has been fighting for its survival whilst remaining closed to protect the health of its communities.
Mike Tweddle, Artistic Director and David Dewhurst, Acting Executive Director, explains:
“Pins and Needles are a much-loved and respected Bristol company with outstanding instincts for theatrical invention and magical storytelling. We were collaborating with them on a bold new co-production for Christmas, before the world changed. We therefore couldn’t be happier to be still joining forces with them and co-producers the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre on this innovative, world-class offering of family theatre, specially reimagined and filmed for audiences at home.”
This production of Raymond Briggs’ Father Christmas has delighted families at the Lyric for eight years running. Now newly rehearsed and filmed especially to be watched in your home, this is the perfect Christmas production at a time when we all need a gorgeous festive treat. From the comfort of your home, watch Briggs’ grumpy but loveable Father Christmas as he gets ready for his busiest day of the year, Christmas Eve. Preparing his Christmas deliveries, feeding his reindeer and finally taking flight into the snowy night.
You will be able to purchase a ticket to access a high quality digital recording of the five star production, available to view from Wednesday 9th December until Thursday 24th December 2020 so you can choose the time they watch to best suit your festive plans. You can enjoy the show along with others in your household as many times as they like between those dates.
If more than one person in your household will be watching the stream, please consider buying a family ticket to support the organisations involved.
