Free Live Virtual Tours of Bristol Harbourside’s Underfall Yard (including workshop machines in full swing!)

This January and February, there will be live virtual tours of Underfall Yard, a historic boat yard and docks maintenance facility on Bristol’s Harbourside.

Organised by the charitable Underfall Yard Trust, the free virtual tours will be of interest to children (and adults!) with an interest in history, boats or machinery.

The tours will enable you to explore the Victorian buildings situated on Bristol’s Harbourside and discover the elegant Georgian engineering that created the Floating Harbour and continues to perform an essential (and largely hidden) role in water management and flood prevention.

Children and adults will also enjoy watching the yard’s Victorian machines in action to see how things were done in the days before computers and 3D printing, and experience the heavy engineering that once powered Bristol Docks!

The three free virtual tours will take place on the following dates:

  • Wednesday 13th January, 2-3pm
  • Saturday 16th January, 2-3pm
  • Thursday 21st January, 11am-12pm
  • Tuesday 2nd February, 11am-2pm
  • Thursday 11th February, 11am-12pm
  • Saturday 20th February, 2-3pm
  • Wednesday 24th February, 11am-12pm

The tours are all free, however, donations are gratefully received via the Underfall Yard Trust’s Just Giving page: https://www.justgiving.com/theunderfallyardtrust.
