Sprint Double Gold for Fairfield High School Athlete

Congratulations to Fairfield High School’s Felix in Year 10, for their outstanding achievement at the Avon County Championships. Representing Bristol and West Athletics Club, Felix competed in both the 100m and 200m sprint events and won a fantastic set of gold medals for the second consecutive year.

Felix’s rise in the fast lane began at the Whitehall track, initially competing in Under-11 Quad Kids events. Over the past four years, they have focused on sprinting, continuing to make impressive progress.

Last year, Felix represented Avon County at the South West Championships and was also selected to compete at the prestigious English Schools Athletics Association Championships in Birmingham.

This season has already seen further success, with Felix improving personal best times in both sprint events, standing at an impressive 11.43 seconds for the 100m and 23.64 seconds for the 200m!

Jordan Goodchild, Director of Physical Education & Performing Arts at Fairfield High School comments: “Felix has shown real dedication and commitment to the sport. Training at the track three times a week, coupled with giving 100% in PE lessons and completing regular strength and conditioning work, has helped develop both performance and resilience at a very high level.”

Zoe Banks Gross, Felix’s mother concludes: “Outside of athletics, Felix has always enjoyed an active lifestyle, including running, cycling and mountaineering. We’re incredibly proud of everything they have achieved so far and are delighted to support Felix on this exciting journey.”

Looking ahead, Felix hopes to qualify once again for the English Schools Championships and is continuing to train hard towards that goal.
