Great news for families planning days out this summer! The popular Kids Go Free scheme is returning, meaning children and young people can once again travel on buses for free across the West of England throughout the school holidays.

Running from Saturday 19th July until Sunday 6th September (inclusive), the scheme allows all children under 16 to travel for free on participating bus services across the region. There’s no need to register – simply hop on board and enjoy the journey.

The West of England remains the only area where children and young people can benefit from free bus travel for the entire seven-week summer holiday, making it easier and more affordable for families to enjoy days out, visit friends and family, or simply explore everything the region has to offer.

Since the scheme first launched in summer 2024 and returned during the Christmas and Easter holidays, it has saved families more than £1.4 million in travel costs. More than 150,000 children aged 5–15 have been eligible to take advantage of the offer. Its success has even led to the Government announcing £100 million to roll out a similar scheme across England throughout August.

With the long summer holidays ahead, this is a fantastic opportunity for families to save money on travel while making the most of everything the West of England has to offer. Whether you’re heading to the park, a museum, the beach or meeting friends, free bus travel could make those summer adventures that little bit more affordable.
