The only race of its type, The Mad Dash invites parents and kids aged 5-11 years to compete in a relay race together as a team – the perfect family day out! From start to finish the race is all about having fun and creating special memories that you and your family can share.
But whilst the focus may be on fun, it’s by no means a walk in the park! The 5km adult’s course will test your agility and stamina whilst the kid’s course is made for one thing – muddy mayhem.
And don’t bring your stop-watch either; the only time the organisers of the Mad Dash care about is a good time. The Mad Dash is about getting out, getting active and having fun with your family. Your participation will also be making a difference as 10% of your ticket entry will be donated to Dreams & Wishes – a UK based charity dedicated to helping seriously ill children make their dreams come true. It’s also a good reason for you and your kids to raise money for other causes close to your heart.
The Mad Dash was created by co-founder, Darren Morris who was fed up that his kids couldn’t join in and share his experience first hand when he competes in races. He explains:
“As an amateur marathoner, triathlete and adventure racer I’ve taken part in lots of races but at the end of each one as I hang my latest medal around my kids’ neck I turn to the same thought – “I wish we could go home with medals we’ve won together. Wouldn’t it be great if we could compete as a team, having fun and getting fit all at the same time?”
“As a local I know Bristol is full of like-minded parents, which is why we’re delighted to be planning our first Mad Dash in Portishead this summer. It will be a fantastic day out and an activity for the whole family to enjoy whether they’re taking part or spectating. We hope this will be the first of many!”
