A day of relaxation, rejuvenation & pampering at Spa Naturel, Bristol

As a busy, working mum of two children, I rarely stop.

Even when I do have a chance to relax, I find it hard to do so because there is always something to do.

Until last week that is 🙂

That’s right, one glorious day last week, I put my fast and busy life on pause and had one, blissful day at Spa Naturel Fitness, a spa and health club at the Mercure Bristol Holland House Hotel.

Situated in the Redcliffe area of Bristol, Spa Naturel Fitness is an oasis of calm and tranquility, with smart, modern decor, a spa with 14 treatment rooms, a fully equipped gym and a 14 metre indoor swimming pool.

When I first arrived, the staff were very friendly and welcoming and showed me into the smart and aptly named Relaxation Lounge and offered me a drink.

Amidst the low lighting, candles and gentle music, I settled down on a comfy leather recliner. Sipping my caffè latte and leafing through a magazine, I determined to relax and enjoy the day ahead of me.

After my coffee,  I was then ready to explore the facilities and decided on a swim. I was lucky enough to have the beautifully heated pool to myself and I swam and lolled about in the warm water and continued to unwind.

After a relaxed and refreshing hour in the pool, I began to feel the first growls of hunger so took myself up into the smart and modern Phoenix Bar. I ordered a light lunch of smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwiches and a gin and tonic.

My lunch was delicious. The sandwiches were made of soft, fresh bread and the combination of salmon and cream cheese was divine, plus I was also treated to a sample of the soup of the day: Carrot and Coriander, absolutely wonderful.

As well as my lunch being fresh and delicious, it was also attractively presented; the hotel prides itself on having a Rosette award, with its experienced chefs always using fresh, local ingredients.

It felt so good to just sit, take my time over my lovely lunch, quietly sipping my ice-cold, refreshing G and T in the smart surroundings and watch the world go by from the window.

By the time my afternoon of beauty treatments began, I felt very relaxed and had no absolutely problem switching off and thoroughly enjoying my chosen treats of a back massage and facial.

For my back massage, the beauty therapist used warmed custom-blended aromatherapy oils. It was wonderful feeling the tension and knots being gently pressed and kneaded from my back.

Following my massage, the beauty therapist gave me an amazing facial, massaging, exfoliating and treating my face using top Decléor products. By this time, I was in such a state of relaxation, I actually drifted off a couple of times!

Following my treatments, I relaxed in the Relaxation Lounge again, enjoying the peace and tranquility.

On leaving Spa Naturel Bristol at the end of the day, I felt blissfully relaxed, refreshed and rejuvenated.

If you are a busy mum like me and know that you could do with a day of pampering and relaxation, I wholeheartedly recommend Spa Naturel Fitness. Maybe your own mum/sister/friend would appreciate a day of pampering, too?
