Today’s post is a review of Turtle Tots baby and toddler swimming classes by Bristol Mum reader, Rosie Beresford.

I’ve always enjoyed being in the water, however that was surprisingly low down the list of reasons that made me decide to take my daughter to baby swim classes with Turtle Tots. Since we started Turtle Tots in September I can safely say that every reason/requirement I had has been well and truly met.

I am so happy to know that my daughter is not only confident in water, but is learning to be safe in water too. It is incredible to see her holding on to the sides of the pool at only 6 months, and to know that in the near future she will be able to turn herself around and then hold on to the sides if she ever falls in. With so many things to be nervous of with a little one around, I find this really reassuring.

I have absolutely loved the bonding experience that our swim time has turned out to be. The whole lesson revolves around the pair, rather than just the baby, and there is a huge amount of time where my daughter and I get to communicate.

There are huge health benefits from regular swimming. My daughter will grow up having exercised regularly her whole life so – fingers crossed – this should help her to have a healthy relationship with exercise. It’s not just about the babies though, Jo always highlights any opportunities for Mums (and Dads!) to use the lesson to strengthen their core.

Finally, I never anticipated just how much we would have fun! My daughter has now got so much confidence in the water, she kicks and splashes in delight every time we get in the pool and the giggles of delight at so many of the songs and activities are certainly part of the reason that we’ll be coming back to Turtle Tots for as long as we can.
