Yes, the Summer holidays are finally here but don’t despair, Bristol Mum is on hand to help!

Here is a handy guide to events for children in and around Bristol from Monday to Friday of this coming week (Mon 20th – Fri 24th July.

MONDAY

Den Building: Dyrham Park

Get out in to the woods and build the best den you can. Maybe creep inside for a wild picnic? You could even be more creative and build yourself a nest instead!

Flower Crown Making: Stonebury Learning Forest School

Farm Holiday Club: Windmill Hill City Farm

Great outdoor fun session with the farm’s experienced team. Pond dipping, animal care, gardening, cooking and more. For age 6 – 9 years.

TUESDAY

Family Storytelling: Arnolfini Café Bar

Every Tuesday, storytellers will amaze, make you giggle and provide a morning of fun. Meet in the Café Bar and follow us to our storytelling space where you’ll listen to stories from beautiful books. Suitable for ages 2-4 years.

APE Project Activities: Windmill Hill City Farm

Have some crazy fun with the APE Project in the farm’s outdoor play area with wild water play or spin painting.

Family Den Building Workshops: Leigh Woods

Learn to make a fantastic den out of materials found on the woodland floor. An experienced instructor will teach you everything your family needs to make a cosy woodland dwelling.

Room to Play Session: Children’s Scrapstore

This Summer, Children’s Scrapstore is running several crafty play sessions for kids. This session is for children aged 6 – 12 years.

WEDNESDAY

Willow Crowns & Creatures in the Woodland: Lawrence Weston Community Farm

Make some willow crowns and creatures with the APE Project in the farm’s beautiful Water Vole Woodland. Suitable for all ages.

Puzzle Island: Windmill Hill City Farm

Lots of fun adventures with the Play Rangers in the farm’s outdoor play area. For all ages.

Summer Activities: Blaise Castle House Museum

Arts, crafts, storytelling and more. For all ages but particularly aimed at ages 7 – 13.

Build a Wormery: Dyrham Park

Join the team at Old Lodge as they create a wormery for the allotment. Hunt for moss and worms and then gather some of compostable material left over from allotment harvesting to create the wormery.

THURSDAY

Kids Bike Workshop: Lawrence Weston Community Farm

Learn how to fix your bike, how to use tools and make improvements. Bring your bike along and learn how to fix punctures, adjust brakes, gears and more! Tools, materials and friendly expert guidance provided. Suitable for kids 8+.

Pizza Making: Windmill Hill City Farm

Come along and make pizzas in the farm’s outdoor kitchen. For all ages.

Summer Activities: Bristol Museum & Art Gallery

Hands-on activities from crafts to science experiments, storytelling and dressing-up. For all ages but particularly aimed at ages 7 – 13.

Busy Buzzy Bees: Bristol Downs and Bristol Zoo Gardens

Spend the morning bee spotting and have fun playing amazzzing bee games and in the afternoon you can make a bee home for your garden. Suitable for children aged 8 – 12.

Room to Play Session: Children’s Scrapstore

  • 10am – 12 noon

Today’s crafty play session is for children aged 2 – 5 years and gives you and your child the chance to come and get stuck in to a bit of mess in the playroom; art materials will be provided and there will be activities such as den making to enjoy!

FRIDAY

Farm Tours: Windmill Hill City Farm

Learn more about how the farm works and meet the animals. For all ages.

Summer Activities: The Georgian House Musum

From arts, crafts, storytelling, dressing-up and more. For all ages but particularly aimed at ages 7 – 13.

Photography Fun: Lawrence Weston Community Farm

Learn how to use a digital camera to take the best photos ever! Feel free to bring along your own camera if you have one. With Creative Youth Network.

Come and make a salad for your lunch. Dig up or pick what you want to eat and add some edible flowers!
