Don a superhero mask and cape to be a Hero for a Day on Friday 2nd October to support your local hospital charity!
On October 2 schools, nurseries, businesses and workplaces across Bristol will become mini superhero headquarters as children and adults dress as superheroes for the day to raise money for Southmead Hospital Charity.
Whether it’s Batman, Superman, Ironman or Wonder Woman – Hero for a Day is a fun way for people to transform from their usual clothes and change into a caped crusader.
The Hero for a Day event is part of the Do Something Super for Southmead campaign to inspire fundraising for Southmead Hospital Charity.
Adrian Brown, Community Appeals Manager, said:
“Every day ordinary people in our hospitals are doing heroic things and this is a super fun way of raising money for one of our priority appeals, like the ICU or trauma unit, or a cause close to your heart so that you can be a hero to your hospital.
“Simply ask everyone in your school, university, work or club to dress as their favourite superhero and make a donation. You could also organise some additional fundraising like a cake sale or toddle walk to compliment your caped crusade.”
Schools, workplaces or other organisations who wish to take part can get a free fundraising pack which includes a superhero mask template that can be decorated.
Southmead Hospital Charity raises money for projects that are beyond the remit of the NHS including medical research, new equipment, therapeutic care and ways to enhance the clinical environment.
Name us! Schools competition to name the Southmead Superheroes
Schools can also take part in a city-wide competition to come up with names for the charity’s five superhero mascots.
All superheroes need a super name and Southmead Hospital Charity is asking Bristol school children to come up with names for each of our five hero mascots.
The Do Something Super for Southmead campaign features five heroes each with a unique talent:
- the power of speed
- power in the water
- super strength
- the ability to fly
- the magic ability to make imagination a reality
Schools have been sent a special pack with entry forms in to the competition which closes on October 16.
The competition is launched ahead of the charity’s Hero for a Day on October 2 where people and pupils are encouraged to dress up as superheroes at work or school.
