Today Bristol Mum features a review of Christ Church C of E Primary School, an Ofsted rated ‘good’ school which is situated on Memorial Road in Hanham. The review is kindly given by a mum who has an 8-year old in Year 4.
Was Christ Church C of E Primary School your first choice of school and if so, why?
Yes it was. It’s very close by and a lovely small school
What are the positive aspects of this school?
I love that all the children know each other. My daughter seems to say hello to all sorts of children on the way into school from reception up to year 6. She’s already a free reader and loves reading which is down to the teaching at the school. I remember being amazed at her progress in reception.
I love going to all the church services at Easter, Christmas, Harvest. The music / singing teacher, who is also my daughter’s teacher, is fantastic.
What do you think of the school building, facilities and size of the school?
When my daughter started there was one class per year but now they have 2 classes per year in every year lower than her, so from reception to year 3. The school has extended due to this and has a lovely new extension which includes classrooms and school hall.
What do you think of the staff at Christ Church Primary?
The staff are great. I’m on the committee which I love. The ladies in the office are great and all of my daughters teachers have been lovely.
What are the school’s values?
“The Values we explore and strive to live by are: Courage, Creativity/Creation, Peace, Trust, Forgiveness, Justice, Thankfulness, Compassion, Hope, Truthfulness, Humility, Generosity, Respect, Reverence, Wisdom, Service, Endurance and Community (Koinonia)”.
Do kids receive homework/reading/tasks do do at home?
Yes. They have to read at least four times per week and also have homework which is usually given as a sheet of various things to do over so many weeks.
