If you ever fancy having a really special meal out, then The Ivy Clifton Brasserie is THE place to go.

The Ivy opened just this week in the heart of Clifton Village and is situated at 42 – 44 Caledonia Place, the former home of a bank. It is open seven days a week and includes breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and snacks.

My husband and I went for a meal at The Ivy on its opening night. On arriving my husband and I weren’t disappointed – with its splendid high ceilings, huge windows and modern art with a Bristol theme adorning the walls, the interior of The Ivy is amazing.

We were immediately greeted by a friendly member of staff and taken to our table, offered drinks and given menus.

The menu had a great variety of dishes catering for all likes and preferences and many of the choices I had not seen on menus in Bristol restaurants before! For our starter, I ordered the Heritage tomato, watermelon and feta salad and my husband ordered the Crunchy prawns with wasabi.

We weren’t disappointed; my salad was beautifully presented with its burst of colours and flavours, it was refreshing to taste.

Our food arrived quickly (but not too quickly) and the waiting staff were super-helpful and attentive throughout our meal.

Our main courses were fantastic, plus really good value. I ordered the Fish and Chips…

Every bit of our food was presented to the highest standard – even my lemon for my fish arrived wrapped up with a little ribbon!

For dessert, I opted for the Chocolate Bombe and with its blend of milk foam, vanilla ice cream and honey comb which crackled in my mouth, this was the dessert of all desserts!

My husband also very much enjoyed his choice of dessert: Dark treacle tart.

My husband and I very much enjoyed our meal at The Ivy and will definitely visit again; it offers fine dining, beautiful decor, great service and absolutely amazing food. It was also really nice being in Clifton Village – one of our favourite parts of Bristol.

The Ivy caters for children too so we also plan to bring our kids to the Ivy in future; I know they would be blown away by the venue and would enjoy their food as much as we enjoyed ours.
