What’s on for Families this Weekend in Bristol: 8/10/16 – 9/10/16

The weekend is finally here and there’s lots of family-friendly fun on offer in Bristol!

There’s miniature steam train rides at Ashton Court Miniature Railway, a pedal-powered cinema in St Andrew’s Park, pony rides at Avon Riding Centre, a Pirates of the Carribean concert with Bristol Orchestra, UK Fungus Day at Feed Bristol, plus bats, pond dipping, snail racing and more outdoor activities at Grimsbury Farm – yes it’s all going on!

Big Green Weekend 2016 at Grimsbury Farm, Kingswood

A free and family-friendly event.

Lots of great outdoor activities for kids including archery, bug hunting, nature crafts, pond dipping, a treasure hunt and snail racing. Avon Bat Group will also be there with some bats for children to learn about!

No booking needed – just turn up and enjoy.

Witness the Wild: St Andrew’s Park Takeover

On Saturday evening St Andrew’s Park will be taken over by Witness the Wild, a pedal-powered wildlife cinema!

Witness the Wild is currently touring through Bristol showing free pop-up and pedal-powered wildlife film screenings, endangered species street art and an open-air, environmentally friendly, sustainably-sourced photography exhibition, featuring some of the world’s best wildlife photographers.

This screening is completely free and booking is not required. Please bring warm clothing and something to sit on!

Pirates of the Carribean with Bristol Concert Orchestra: Bristol Grammar School

Climb aboard for this concert for children with music sure to make a splash: music from the Pirates of the Caribbean films (interspersed with narration by David Barrell) and The Padstow Lifeboat by Malcolm Arnold with a feature the children are sure to love.

This FREE concert by Bristol Concert Orchestra will be a great way to introduce your children to the thrill of hearing a live orchestra play right in front of them, in the grand setting of the Great Hall at Bristol Grammar School.

Demand is expected to be high, so be sure to secure your seats now to avoid disappointment.

UK Fungus Day: Feed Bristol

A free, fun and educational event for all ages to find out more about the fascinating world of fungi.

There will be children’s activities, a fungi film space, a fungi foray to find mushrooms in the wild, mushroom cultivation workshops to help you to grow your own mushrooms at home, mushroom laboratory tours showing you Feed Bristol grow edible and medicinal fungi on site, a chance to try and buy unusual cultivated fungi and much more!
