Bristol Language Centre (BLC) will once again be welcoming international junior students to Bristol this summer, and so they are looking for Bristol families like yours to help.
Host families are needed for junior international students aged 13 – 17 years old in July/August and, in return for hosting, families will receive £134 per student per week, plus benefit from learning about different cultures.
Hosting an international student also offers a great learning experience for children in a host family: not only will they learn about cultures, they might even learn a few words of a foreign language!
The junior international students will be staying in Bristol for between 1 – 4 weeks and families can host two junior students per room (that’s £536 for two weeks!) and up to four students in one house.
Families must be friendly and welcoming and need to provide a single or twin room for the students, plus breakfast, packed lunch and dinner each day.
Families must also have a valid gas safety certificate for their home and a valid DBS/CRB certificate (which BLC can help you with).
If you are interested in being a host family to one or more junior international students, you can register your interest by completing a short online form on the BLC website.
Once BLC receives this form, they will arrange with you a time for someone from BLC to visit you in your home so as to meet you in person and assess the space you can offer.
This home visit is really important as it ensures BLC has a good relationship with you and ensures that you enjoy your experience of being a host family.
Once you are fully signed up as a host family BLC will carefully match you with students according to your profile.
As well as an easy way of earning some money, being a host family has so many benefits for every member of your family!
