On Saturday 29th July children will have the chance to become archaeologists for the day at Bristol’s Brilliant Archaeology event at Blaise Castle Estate, Henbury.
Part of the nationwide Festival of Archaeology, there’ll be loads of archaeology-themed fun including demonstrations, displays and archaeological activities, dressing-up, crafts, mini-excavations and even a Roman feast!
There will be face-painting Iron Age style, a chance to dress up as a medieval monk, create some beautiful flax string jewellery and handle replica Anglo-Saxon weapons and armour – just a few of the many activities on offer!
Field archaeologists, re-enactors and heritage organisations will be on hand at the event, sharing their archaeological knowledge and skills with children and families.
Bristol’s Brilliant Archaeology takes place from 11am – 4pm and is drop-in, no booking required and runs on a pay what you think basis.
The activities will take place across Blaise Castle House Museum, Blaise Community Garden and at Blaise Castle.
You can find Blaise Castle Estate on Henbury Road, BS10 7QS.
