From Wednesday 15th-Friday 17th August, there will be a 3-day children’s drama workshop at Kelvin Players Studio Theatre with Bristol Academy of Drama.

The ‘‘Twisted Fairy Tales: Creating Performance’ workshop will give children aged 12 – 16 years the opportunity to devise, rehearse and perform a play under the guidance of experienced Bristol Academy of Drama Facilitators.

Throughout 3 days the group will create a play from the theme of “Twisted Fairytales”.  They will make new friends, develop characters, discuss and devise scenes to build their play for a performance on the final afternoon to family and friends. This process is designed to develop creative thinking, drama and improvisation skills and build confidence and teamwork.

Students can let their imagination run wild, creating a different interpretation on the Fairy-tale classics. There is no limit to what can be achieved in this short time; who knows what strange and wonderful characters they’ll create and what worlds they’ll transport their audience to.

Not only will they received guidance and help from Bristol Academy of Drama’s facilitators but they will be given props, costumes and basic scenery in which to create the world of their play.

All children will need to bring is their willingness to get stuck in, their imagination, comfy clothing and plenty of food and drink to keep their energy levels up.

The 3-day workshop will enable children to build fun memories, learn new skills and make new friends!

Bristol Academy of Drama also runs children’s drama classes on Saturdays. Morning classes are now full but there are currently spaces in the afternoon class and the academy will also be opening a younger and older age group class from September. 

The younger age group (4-6) years will be on Saturdays 8.30am – 9.30am and the after-school classes for age 12-16 will be from 4.30pm – 6.30pm (day of week tba).
