I am really pleased to introduce children’s picture book, James and the Birthday Balloon by Nicola J Rowley.
The story is aimed at children aged 3-7 and carries a reassuring message for any child faced with having to go to hospital. It tells how James saves the day with a small act of kindness and a smile that soon spreads through the wards and A&E.
TV Presenter Dr Ranj Singh (CBeebies and ITV’s This Morning) has narrated the free audiobook of the story, which accompanies the paperback version. The eBook version has already become a top five Amazon.com Best Seller in its category.
James and the Birthday Balloon is the second book in the James and the… series by author Nicola J Rowley and follows on from the hugely successful James and the Amazing Gift (Matador 2016).
The first book secured rave reviews from mummy bloggers in the UK, US and the United Arab Emirates and was highlighted by celebrities including Michelle Heaton, Laura Hamilton, X Factor winner Sam Bailey, and TV presenter Amanda Lamb.
One pound from every copy of James and the Birthday Balloon, will help support Evelina London Children’s Hospital, which provides care and life-saving treatment for children in south London and beyond.
Dr Ranj Singh said, “I have loved working with Nicola to record an audio version of James and the Birthday Balloon. I enjoyed the wonderful positive messaging of Nicola’s first book and so when she approached me to help her, I jumped at the chance. It’s a big draw for me that every copy is raising vital funds for the work of Evelina London Children’s Hospital, where I used to work.”
Deputy Director of Evelina London, Miranda Jenkins said, “When Nicola approached us about being her chosen charity for her latest children’s book, we were delighted. The idea of spreading happiness in such a positive and uplifting way, and letting children know they have nothing to fear from coming to hospital, is so important.”
Nicola J Rowley added, “I’m delighted that there has already been such a phenomenal response to James and the Birthday Balloon, especially as the character of James was originally inspired by my son. I hope this story goes a long way to spread some magic and happiness through the wards of Evelina London Children’s Hospital, whilst also highlighting the amazing work the staff do on a daily basis.”
The eBook version of James and the Birthday Balloon went to number five in the Amazon.com Best Seller list in its category on its publication day of 1 November 2017. The audio version of the book is available as a free bonus with the purchase of every paperback copy.
