This Saturday Mama Bear’s Day Nursery & Pre-School in Downend is being transformed into a magical winter wonderland for its open day, which aims to show prospective new parents the benefits of nursery life for their toddlers and pre-school children.
Located on Downend Road, the nursery will be opening its doors from 10am – 12 noon and local families will be able to explore facilities and meet staff.
Visitors will also enjoy playing in the ‘snow’, meeting Olaf and sampling tasty treats.
The Open Day is an opportunity for parents to find out more about the new Extended Entitlement Childcare Scheme, which offers 30-hours of free childcare a week for eligible three and four-year olds.
Hollie Redish of Mama Bear’s explains:
“Our Open Days are always really popular with local families and this one is set to be fantastic with the Winter Wonderland theme to keep children entertained while the parents get the information they need.
“We’re finding that families still aren’t taking advantage of the brilliant new childcare funding scheme launched by the Government in September. Working families of three and four-year olds can now receive 24 hours of free childcare and early education a week for 47.5 weeks of the year – all year round or 30 hours a week for 38 weeks per year – term time only.
“We want to make local people aware of the completely free childcare places available at Mama Bear’s which come with no hidden charges. Even registration is free for those who sign up on the day.
“For any parent choosing childcare is an enormous decision and you need to feel confident about the people who will be caring for your child. That’s why it’s is so important not just to come and have a good look round a nursery to view its facilities, but also to gauge for yourself how well your child will fit in, how the staff interact with the children and get a sense of their values.”
Housed in a converted Victorian vicarage, the Downend Road Mama Bear’s nursery is surrounded by a walled-garden with an all-weather playground including a feature pirate ship.
Inside the nursery, there is a home-from-home feel with well-resourced rooms and a specialised sensory room. The team is experienced in early years’ education and design activities especially for toddlers and pre-school children.
The nursery also benefits from a pre-school teacher who designs activities to support the transition to primary school.
Perfectly located for parents in the Downend, Fishponds, Mangotsfield, Emersons Green and Staple Hill areas, there is plenty of parking outside the nursery making dropping off and picking up very convenient.
Mama Bear’s is a family-run group, owned by husband and wife Tony and Bev Driffield, and includes 15 settings across Bristol in Brislington, Bradley Stoke, Clifton, Hanham, Downend, Fishponds, Hengrove, Whitchurch, Shirehampton, Soundwell and Totterdown. There are also further nurseries in Devon and Somerset.
