Introducing The Sunshine Café at The Elmgrove Centre, the perfect hang-out for toddlers and their parents/carers!
Open on Mondays 8.45am-5pm and on Thursdays 9am-11am, the Sunshine Café offers a bouncy castle and soft play room, plus tasty food and drinks for all ages.
The Sunshine Café is a brand new idea hosted by The Elmgrove Centre, a community centre in Redland which is run by C.E.T., a registered charity.
There is a huge space for toddlers to run around, ride on their own scooters which they are welcome to bring, or they can use one of the centre’s toddle trucks.
It is £1 on Mondays for use of the bouncy castle and soft play and 50p on Thursdays for use of the soft play.
The café serves snacks and drinks including tea, coffee and squash, all at reasonable prices. From 17th May the Rainbow Café will be open on Thursdays from 9am-12 noon to coincide with the Sunshine Lunches from 12-2pm.
There are exciting plans afoot for the Sunshine Café. As a community centre, the organisers aim to provide services needed within the community. So, in the future, they aim to expand the services they offer at the Sunshine Café by accommodating workers from various organisations such as Bristol Debt Advice, Citizens Advice, and Shelter.
The plan is to have an advisor at the Sunshine Café every few weeks on a Monday, to offer confidential advice to anyone who may want to come in for a chat.
Although The Sunshine Café only opened mid-February, organisers have been heartened by the response of local mums and dads.
The café is progressively so much more than “just another café” and the warm atmosphere, laughter, and animated excitement of the children, is testament to this!
If you would like to visit the Sunshine Café, you can find it at The Elmgrove Centre, Redland BS6 6AH.
